About the Cubiverse
The Cubiverse is created procedurally using only one element: the block. Following only two rules, the structure evolves by attaching elements together, forming an intricate crystal-like structure. A ‘gallery in a gallery’ is the concept of ‘The Bunker Gallery’ and ‘Starvester Gallery’ where prints as well as virtual terminals are on display.
The player can navigate the virtual galleries and solve puzzles along the way. In Starvester—Into the Cubiverse, one can fly freely inside the structure. A dot becoming a line, a line a tile, and a tile a cube is what the Cubiverse consists of, but also what it looks like as a whole.
Through recursion (octaves) and symmetry, the Cubiverse project shows that with limited rules, complex structures can arise.

The Cubiverse Builder
Mark Florquin is a Belgian digital artist focusing on coding generative systems, virtual spaces and interactive applications. Using simple rules, he often explores recursion and symmetry. His ideas materialises as prints, virtual galleries, games and tools. He has a background in 3D scanning and digital production where the virtual and real reflect each other. He lives and works in Antwerpen-Berchem, Belgium.
